Our next fundraising event - our annual Elf Dash 2022 - More to follow.
As many of you are aware, Harrison Walch is one of our valued players from the Under 17 Blues's team and has played with the club for many years. In April 2019 Harrison received the devastating news that he had developed Acute Myeloid Leukaemia which is a very aggressive form of blood cancer.
Aged just 14 years old, it meant that Harrison and his family faced months of intensive and gruelling treatments as well as starting the search for a life-saving stem cell donor.
Straight away the Harrison Kicks Leukaemia charity was formed with the purpose of both raising funds to supports the development and refurbishment of Ward 6, the cancer ward at the Sheffield Children's Hospital where Harrison is being fantastically cared for. Secondly, the charity hopes to raise awareness of stem cell donation with the support of both DKMS and Anthony Nolan, signing as many people of all ages to the registers creating those potential life savers and hope for so many.
Thankfully in August 2019 the all-important stem cell donor was found for Harrison and the transplant took place with the next stage of his journey stating and Harrison as always showing true strength and determination on his road back to good health.
The Harrison Kicks leukaemia charity continues to grow and is supported by so many of us in the local community. Thousands have signed on to donor registers and contributed in so many ways by various fundraising events with a large amount of money already raised. But the £2.75 million needed for the Children's Hospital Ward 6, and the ongoing need for the precious life saving donors continues and this is where Aston Swallownest Junior Football Club will continue to support.
As a local community and non-profit making Junior football club we hope to help and support Harrison in anyway we can and have a successful season.
With thanks to everyone for your continued support.
